Description

The statue of Saint Apollonia is a hymn to faith and the sculptural excellence of Val Gardena, capable of instilling a profound serenity in any environment. The artist has captured the Saint in a pose of composed elegance, with a sweet and contemplative expression that invites prayer.

The rich and voluminous drapery is enhanced by a masterful chromatic palette: the outer cloak in vibrant terracotta red or brilliant orange dynamically wraps the ivory-colored inner dress. The metallic gold details of the borders and the draped overlay catch the light, adding a touch of sacred royalty to the figure. In her hand, she gracefully holds the palm of martyrdom and a pair of pliers; this instrument symbolizes her martyrdom, which occurred in Alexandria, Egypt, in 249 AD, during which all her teeth were extracted before she was burned alive for not renouncing the Christian faith.

Every sculpture is the result of skilled handcraftsmanship and an ancient tradition. Made of solid wood, the statue is carved with millimeter precision by the master artisans Dolfi. To ensure maximum fidelity and quality in every size, the figure of Saint Apollonia is made of maple wood for sizes up to 56 cm, and in robust linden wood for larger sizes. Choose the Classic Colored (C) finish, the Natural (N) elegance, or the sophisticated Three Shades of Brown (3G) effect, for a masterpiece that honors the tradition of sacred sculpture.
