This sculpture captures a moment of pure rural tenderness. The young protagonist is depicted in a gesture of profound affection, delicately cradling a rooster, closing his eyes in a serene smile that suggests harmony and care. At his feet, another rooster and a hen animate the scene, pecking at the ground on the uniform base, in a vivid portrayal of farm life. The artisan Dolfi has managed to infuse life into the figure thanks to meticulous details: from the realistic folds of the peasant clothes, rendered in warm, earthy tones (red-orange and sand beige), to the meticulous incision of the feathers and red wattles.
To ensure the utmost fineness of details on these reduced dimensions (7.5 cm and 11 cm), the statue is hand-carved entirely from precious maple wood, following the ancient sculptural tradition of Val Gardena. The hand-painted finish enhances every detail, from the texture of the child's hair to the vibrant colors of the poultry, making each piece a masterpiece of artisan craftsmanship and a tribute to the simplicity of country life.
