The statue of Saint Edward the Confessor is a masterpiece of wood carving that celebrates regal majesty and profound spiritual devotion. The figure is depicted in an upright and contemplative position, clad in a rich burgundy and dark brown robe, embellished with golden finishes that recall the preciousness of the crown and staff.
The hand painting enhances every detail: from the wide folds of the cloak to the serene expression of the bearded face. The golden elements, treated with a finish reminiscent of aged gold leaf, contrast beautifully with the opaque and semi-gloss tones of the fabrics, giving the sculpture an aura of authentic antiquity.
