The statue of Pope Saint Caius is a masterpiece of faith and craftsmanship, hand-carved by our artisans in Val Gardena. The figure is depicted in a pose of solemn spirituality: his gaze of deep contemplation is directed towards the sacred book he holds in his left hand, while authority is symbolized by the golden crosier held in his right.

The rich pontifical vestments, dominated by a vibrant red-brown (terracotta), are enhanced by wide borders and golden ornaments. These shiny finishes, made with high-quality golden paint or gold leaf, give the sculpture discreet luxury and sacred luminosity, highlighting the meticulous carving of the folds.

Faithful to the Dolfi tradition and the logic of alpine materials, this sculpture is made of maple wood for sizes up to 56 cm, ensuring maximum definition in minute details. The dark brown octagonal base, also finished with golden motifs, ensures stability and an elegant presentation in any environment.

The golden crozier symbolizes his function as "shepherd of Christ's flock," guiding and protecting the faithful. The open book, on which a stylized cross is visible, is a powerful symbol of erudition, adherence to the Word of God, and Saint Caius's role as a doctrinal guide and guardian of the faith during his pontificate. The slightly reclined pose and the gaze towards the book suggest an attitude of deep prayer, meditation, and wisdom.</p>

<p>Saint Caius was the 28th Pope of the Catholic Church, serving from 283 to 296 AD. His figure is enveloped in late imperial Roman history; tradition holds him to be originally from Dalmatia and venerates him as a martyr. His pontificate fell in a period of relative peace for Christians, before the great Diocletian persecutions broke out. His liturgical memory is celebrated on April 22nd.
