The Statue of Saint Berward Bishop is a masterpiece of wood carving that carries with it the authentic artistic tradition of Val Gardena. This imposing ecclesiastical figure is depicted in a solemn and contemplative pose, immediately evoking a sense of deep spirituality and history.
The master sculptors Dolfi have precisely captured the detail of the vestments: the voluminous and rich drapery is composed of layers in dark red and gold, masterfully finished with golden borders that enhance their preciousness. The face, characterized by a thick curly beard, is turned downwards in a gesture of humility and prayer. The entire sculpture is embellished with symbolic details, such as the long golden crozier, the pontifical miter, and the open book, carefully held in the hands.
