The sculpture captures the sacred and touching moment of the Apparition, representing the Virgin Mary with an expression of sublime serenity and young Bernadette in an attitude of deep devotion and awe. The figure of the Madonna, enveloped in a candid veil and a cream-colored gown, is elegantly finished with golden borders and a deep blue sash. Her clasped hands hold a delicate golden rosary, as she rests on a rocky base adorned with dark red roses, symbolizing her purity.
Bernadette, kneeling, is dressed in earthy tones and a blue-grey shawl, with her eyes turned upwards in fervent prayer, wrapped in a cloth that suggests her humble condition. Every chromatic detail is hand-applied, enhancing the naturalness of the pastel shades and the richness of the golden accents that embellish the work, also available in N (natural wood) and 3G (three shades of brown) finishes.
This majestic work of sacred art is the result of the centuries-old sculptural tradition of Val Gardena. To guarantee maximum fidelity and durability in every dimension, the statue is carved from precious wood: Maple wood for sizes up to 56 cm, renowned for its fine grain and detailed workmanship, and Linden wood for sizes over 56 cm, preferred for its lightness and stability in large format sculptures.
