Description

Admire the spiritual intensity of Saint Barbara enclosed in this precious sacred work of art. The figure is depicted with a regal bearing and serene composure, with her gaze directed upwards in deep contemplation. Her image is enlivened by a vibrant red mantle, a symbol of passion and sacrifice, which contrasts beautifully with the golden halo and the palm branches she holds, emblems of her victory over martyrdom.

The central image is enhanced by an openwork frame, a masterpiece of precision obtained thanks to the artisanal skill of Val Gardena. The external structure, made of high-quality maple wood – selected for works of this size (15 cm) – features a natural finish that enhances its clear grain and clean lines. The symmetrical motif, rich in stylized volutes and curls, is the result of exceptionally accurate laser cutting that embraces the sacred figure, giving it an aura of delicate majesty and making the ornament a focal point of beauty and devotion.

Story
Saint Barbara, virgin martyr of the 3rd century, is a legendary figure venerated as one of the 14 Holy Helpers. Her feast day is on December 4th. She is invoked against thunderstorms and is the patron saint of artillerymen and miners. Legend has it that, imprisoned in a tower by her pagan father Dioscorus, she converted to Christianity. Refusing marriage, she was tortured and beheaded by her father himself, who was then struck by lightning. Despite her removal from the General Roman Calendar in 1969 due to doubts about authenticity, her devotion persists.
