In this work, the ancient craftsmanship of Val Gardena merges with profound spirituality. The Virgin Mary, depicted in an erect and graceful pose, lovingly holds Baby Jesus on her left arm. The sculpture, available in the 15 cm size, is made using a precious combination of resin and wood powder, a material known for its resistance and ability to capture the smallest sculptural details, ideal for conveying devotion in a compact format.
The colors used are rich in meaning and light: the light cream of the mantle is combined with the deep brown of the tunic, while the Child shines in a blue/teal robe. The finish is enhanced by an intense application of gold details: intricate borders, volutes, and friezes decorate the edges of the clothes and the halos of both subjects, giving the work a sacred and regal brilliance. Mary wears a crown and has a serene face, while offering the sacred scapulars to the observer, a symbol of protection and faith.
