This sculptural composition captures the solemn and intimate emotion of the Nativity, presented in a rustic and deeply handcrafted style that honors the tradition of Val Gardena. At the center of the scene, the Holy Family is a portrait of devotion: Mary kneels with her head bowed in a gesture of profound humility and adoration towards the Baby Jesus, peacefully laid in his crib.
Joseph stands, a silent and contemplative guardian. His figure leans slightly forward, observing the miracle of birth and holding a staff and a small white candle, a symbol of hope not yet lit, emphasizing the anticipation and mystery of the moment.
The stable is not a mere addition but is integrated into a skilfully carved wooden landscape structure. Its angular and layered shapes evoke rocks or a stylized tree, giving the nativity scene a mountainous and authentic appearance. The distinct marks of carving tools are left visible, testifying to the manual workmanship and the opaque, natural finish of the wood, enriched with small tufts of moss that add an organic touch.
Faithful to our tradition, the individual figures (available from 6 to 18 cm) are made of valuable maple wood, hand-finished with meticulous attention to the colors that dress Mary and Joseph. The entire base structure and integrated stable, however, are carved from lime wood, ensuring sturdiness and typical lightness. You can choose the finish: entirely colored (C), in natural essence (N), or with three shades of brown (3G).
