<p>La simbologia di questa casetta risiede nella sua funzione pratica e folcloristica di "segnatempo". Le due figure in miniatura rappresentano l'eterna dualità tra il bel tempo e il maltempo. La donna, che indossa abiti più leggeri e reca simboli floreali, si mostra quando l'igrometro interno segnala un'aria secca, tipica dell'alta pressione e del sereno. L'uomo, invece, che indossa abiti scuri e porta l'ombrello, fa la sua comparsa quando l'umidità aumenta e la pressione scende, indicando l'arrivo della pioggia o del maltempo. Questa rappresentazione è un affascinante e ludico richiamo alla saggezza popolare alpina e alla profonda connessione tra l'uomo e i ritmi della natura.</p>

<p>La storia della casetta meteorologica, o igrometro figurato, affonda le sue radici nell'Europa centrale del XVII secolo, diffondendosi in particolare nelle regioni boschive della Foresta Nera in Germania e nelle aree alpine. Nonostante l'aspetto giocoso, questi strumenti sono tecnicamente degli igrometri: il loro meccanismo è basato sulla torsione di un capello animale o vegetale teso, che si accorcia in presenza di aria secca (facendo uscire la donna) e si allunga con l'aumento dell'umidità (facendo uscire l'uomo). Questa tradizione è stata accolta e reinterpretata dall'artigianato della Val Gardena, che ha saputo unire la funzionalità scientifica con l'estetica inconfondibile degli chalet alpini, trasformando un semplice strumento di misurazione in un elemento decorativo carico di folklore.</p>
