Description

Immerse yourself in the magical and timeless atmosphere of Alpine traditions with the carved Cuckoo Clock, an authentic celebration of hunting art and the craftsmanship of Val Gardena.

This functional sculpture is a masterpiece of wood carving. The case is dominated by a superb deer head, a symbol of nobility and vigor, placed above crossed rifles and surrounded by a rich thicket of oak leaves. Every detail, from the rabbit to the hare, up to the hunting bird that frames the dial, is rendered with impressive sculptural definition, enhanced by the deep dark brown finish that highlights its natural grain.

According to our artisanal tradition, for this 44 cm size, the clock was made using precious Maple Wood. Its compactness and fine grain make it the ideal material for capturing the complexity of the carvings, especially the minute ones that bring to life the pair of dancing dancers that come alive every hour, adding a touch of joyful animation.

The traditional mechanism completes the work, with brass hands and chains and pine cone-shaped weights, ensuring not only a luxury furnishing function, but also the preservation of an ancient watchmaking art.

Detail & Meaning
The iconography of this clock celebrates the deep connection between man and alpine nature. The deer is not just a hunting trophy, but a universal symbol of regeneration, longevity, and the spiritual leader of the forest. Oak leaves, a recurring element in the carving, evoke strength, resilience, and stability. The joint presence of wild animals such as the hare and the pheasant underscores the balance of wildlife. Finally, the mechanism of dancing maidens represents the joy of peasant and alpine life that cyclically renews itself, marked by time.
Story
Although wood carving has ancient roots in Val Gardena, the cuckoo clock (Kuckucksuhr) originates from the German Black Forest (as often indicated on the dial), between the 17th and 18th centuries. The Dolfi brand has reinterpreted this traditional instrument, combining the reliability of German clockmaking with the incomparable sculpting mastery of Val Gardena. The result is an object that transcends the mere measurement of time, becoming a work of art that tells the story of two great European artisan traditions, passing down the charm of the cuckoo's call from generation to generation.
