This wooden sculpture captures the tenderness and devotion of the Shepherd, an emblematic figure of care and protection. The scene is rendered with moving sweetness: the young shepherd tenderly holds the lamb to his chest, while a second lamb rests at his feet. His face, turned towards the little one, expresses a serenity and contemplation that reflect the purity of his mission.
The work stands out for the extraordinary quality of Val Gardena craftsmanship. The details are sculpted with sublime precision: from the dense curls of the hair to the flowing folds of the ochre tunic and brick-red cloak. The earthy colors and matte finish give the statue a classic, natural, and deeply authentic look.
The sculpture is available in various finishes—Colored (C), Natural (N), and Three shades of brown (3G)—and in a wide range of sizes. Variants up to 28 cm are carved from precious maple wood, renowned for its fine grain that allows for meticulous details, like the lambs' wool. The 56 cm variant, however, is made from lime wood, which is better suited to provide stability and majesty to large sculptures. Each piece is entirely handcrafted and hand-painted by the master sculptors Dolfi, guardians of a centuries-old tradition.
