The Flying Heart Guardian Angel is a testament to Val Gardena craftsmanship reinterpreted in a modern, tactile way. This entirely handmade hanging sculpture captures the elegance of a putto in flight, offering a unique contrast between dynamic forms and a deeply earthy finish.
The main body of the figure, including the head, heart, and limbs, is carved from maple wood, the traditional choice for our smaller creations (7 cm). Its applied finish is what makes it distinctive: a reddish-brown, opaque, and granular texture that evokes the warm, aged look of oxidized metal or raw wood.
The wings, a distinctive element of the figure, are formed by two overlaid layers of wood with natural grain. The lighter upper tone stands out against the darker, rustic base, recalling the visual contrast of bark. Suspended by a golden braided cord, this stylized angel not only decorates but carries a powerful symbol: the heart, held firmly in outstretched hands, an emblem of infinite care and affection.
