This extraordinary stylized Christmas tree is a hymn to the natural craftsmanship of Val Gardena and the warmth of raw wood. Its unique structure is made by horizontally assembling logs of various lengths, skillfully stacked to form a striking conical zig-zag silhouette, recalling the authentic atmosphere of the Dolomite forests.
The use of the outer bark, with its dark brown color and rustic, irregular texture, gives the object an authentic and mountainous charm. The base, made from a thick circular section of a log, proudly displays the growth rings, witnesses of time and life. This composition is embellished with small and delicate figures of angels and stars, precisely carved.
These decorative elements, unpainted and with a matte, smooth finish, elegantly contrast with the rusticity of the main structure. The figures of angels – in different celestial poses, some playing trumpets and harps, others in prayer or in flight – are made of precious maple wood, the material of choice in our sculptural tradition for works of this size (29 cm). The five-pointed star at the top, in a pure matte white, crowns the work, transforming a simple decorative object into a masterpiece of natural design and spirituality.
