L'arte dell'intaglio in Val Gardena affonda le sue radici nel XVII secolo. Nata inizialmente come attività invernale per i contadini, si è rapidamente trasformata in una tradizione d'eccellenza, specializzandosi nella produzione di figure sacre e, in seguito, di oggetti decorativi come i presepi e gli ornamenti natalizi. La realizzazione di pezzi così piccoli e dettagliati, come questa sfera cava di 6 cm, testimonia l'abilità unica degli scultori ladini che, per secoli, hanno affinato la tecnica del "piccolo intaglio". Questi ornamenti non sono semplici decorazioni, ma l'eredità di una maestria secolare che porta con sé il calore e l'autenticità dei legni alpini lavorati a mano.
