What makes this piece unique is the powerful material contrast. The central part of the sculpture faithfully reproduces the structure of bark wood, featuring an intensely rough surface rich in fissures, with deep shades of brown ranging from Siena earth to reddish-grey. This organic texture beautifully dialogues with the outer edges and the base, where the wood is left smooth and natural, revealing the delicate grain of the underlying material in a pale beige-yellowish color.
This Alberello, 20.5 cm high, was entirely crafted from precious maple wood, the preferred choice of our sculptors for works smaller than 56 cm. The precision with which Dolfi master carvers have managed to capture the essence of raw wood with bark, transforming it into a stylized and modern form, testifies to the excellence of Val Gardena craftsmanship.
