This sculpture of Christ's Corpus captures the solemn and moving instant of final abandonment. The artist has sculpted a slender and muscular body, whose posture, with the head reclined and the eyes closed or heavily half-closed, expresses profound resignation and suffering. Every anatomical detail is rendered with sculptural precision that amplifies the emotional impact of the work, from the hinted ribs to the tense muscles.
The finish features warm, natural tones that enhance the wood grain, giving it a vivid and tangible appearance. The focus is on the loincloth: sculpted with dynamic folds, it is enriched by a majestic contrast between the elegance of the opaque blue-gray and the vibrant richness of gold leaf, a distinctive element of Val Gardena craftsmanship. The simulations of wounds and blood, rendered in dark reddish-brown tones, add realism without falling into excess.
Produced entirely in our workshops, the sculpture is made with precious and selected materials. Depending on the chosen size, the wood used varies: it is Maple wood for smaller sizes (up to 56 cm) and Linden wood for larger sizes (from 56 cm upwards), always guaranteeing optimal workability and an impeccable finish. Numerous color and finish variations are available, from natural wood to three shades of brown paint (3G).
