Description

Let yourselves be embraced by the timeless atmosphere of Christmas with our Handmade Stable, a miniature work of art that will be the beating heart of your Nativity scene. This structure immediately evokes a sense of authentic refuge, crafted according to the ancient sculptural traditions of Val Gardena.

Every detail is carefully prepared to recreate the rustic simplicity of the Bethlehem stable. The double-pitched roof, made with overlapping and deliberately irregular wooden planks, gives it a worn and lived-in appearance, enhanced by touches of artificial moss and lichens that decorate its top and base. The side walls, with their grainy texture simulating rough plaster and embedded stones, perfectly frame the central space, recalling the limestone of the Dolomites.

Consistent with our tradition for Nativity structures, this stable is entirely carved and assembled using precious Linden wood. This material, known for its stability and fine grain, is masterfully worked by our artisans to ensure a solid structure and lasting appeal. Available in various sizes (from 6 cm to 28 cm), it perfectly adapts to any scale of figurines, offering the ideal background for the most sacred event in Christianity.

Detail & Meaning
The Hut, or stable, is the fundamental scenic element of the Nativity scene, and its simplicity has profound iconographic meaning. It symbolizes the humility and poverty in which Jesus Christ, the King of Kings, chose to be born. Not a royal palace, but a shelter for animals, highlighting the evangelical message of service and renunciation of earthly glory. Structures like this, with their worn appearance and the presence of natural elements such as raw wood and rock, recall the fragility of the human condition, which is sanctified and redeemed by the event of the Nativity.
Story
The tradition of recreating the Nativity scene dates back to Saint Francis of Assisi, who created the first living Nativity in Greccio in 1223. From that moment, the display spread throughout the Christian world, becoming a popular expression of faith. In Val Gardena, the art of wood carving for the Nativity reached its peak in the 17th century. The abundance of wood and alpine isolation fostered the development of a unique craft school, where the creation of every element, from figurines to stable, is handed down from generation to generation. This stable is the heir to centuries of artisanal history, bringing with it the authenticity and dedication of the South Tyrolean master carvers.
