Description

Admire the sublime serenity of the statue of St. Thérèse of Lisieux, a sculpture that captures the "Little Way" of Holiness with grace and sweetness. The figure, dressed in the Carmelite habit, is presented in a pose of humble contemplation, with her head slightly tilted.

The bouquet of roses that St. Thérèse holds to her chest is a symbol of her promise to "let fall a shower of roses" upon the earth, along with the small crucifix, emblem of her profound Faith. The polychromy is entirely hand-painted with techniques that give depth and realism to the garments, through brown and cream nuances that enhance the voluminous folds of the habit.

This sculpture is a testament to the artisanal excellence of Val Gardena, available in different finishes: colored (C1/C2), natural (N), and in exclusive Italian olive wood (U).

Regarding materials, the statue is crafted with the utmost care according to Dolfi tradition: for variants up to 56 cm, precious Maple Wood is used. For larger sizes, from 56 cm upwards, the sculpture is carved from the more robust Linden Wood, ensuring stability and detail even in monumental pieces.

Detail & Meaning
1) Elementi iconografici e simbolici: Rose, Crocifisso.
Story
Saint Therese of Lisieux, "The Little Flower of Jesus," is one of the most beloved saints of the Church. Born Marie Françoise-Thérèse Martin in 1873, she entered the Carmel at just 15 years old. Her "Little Way" of holiness, based on trust and love, has inspired millions of people. She died at 24 years old of tuberculosis, but her posthumous writings revealed the depth of her spirituality. Pope Pius X called her the greatest saint of modern times. Her Basilica in Lisieux is a major pilgrimage center. Her feast is celebrated on October 1st.
