This moving sculpture captures the sweetness and simplicity of pastoral life. The Shepherdess, dressed in her traditional earthy and muted attire, elegantly holds a jug, a symbol of care and sustenance. Beside her, the Shepherd boy, with the placid expression of a child, proudly shows her a small newborn chick, a reminder of blossoming life.
Every detail, from the voluminous folds of the rural garments to the sturdy footwear, is skillfully defined by the opaque brushstrokes, which create plays of light and shadow typical of the most refined craftsmanship. The entire scene rests on an irregular base that reinforces the rural setting.
Crafted according to the ancient and renowned sculptural tradition of Val Gardena, this work is carved in maple wood, a precious material chosen for its fineness and compactness in smaller sizes (10, 12, 14 cm). Finishes range from the Colored (C) version, as seen in the photo, with vibrant colors that enhance the rural atmosphere, to Natural (N) or Three Shades of Brown (3G), offering a masterpiece of alpine craftsmanship that lasts over time.
