In Val Gardena, the art of wood carving blends with spirituality, giving life to masterpieces such as the Shepherd Boy with Lantern and Hare. This figure embodies serenity and thoughtfulness, depicted in an upright androgynous pose, with a young face and serene eyes gazing upwards. The chosen colors embrace the earth: warm, natural shades of dark brown for the robe, soft olive green for the cloak, and brick reds for the headdress and sash, harmoniously combined with the light beige of the skin and inner garment.
The skill of our master artisans emerges in the meticulous care of every detail: the carved folds of the fabric give dynamic volume to the garments, while the curls of the hair subtly peek out from under the headdress. The Shepherd Boy firmly holds a lantern, whose yellow panels simulate a warm and reassuring light, and cradles a small hare with extreme delicacy against his chest, a gesture that speaks of protection and life.
This precious sculpture is made entirely of maple wood, following the best handicraft tradition of Val Gardena for the smaller sizes (6 cm – 14 cm). You can choose the finish that best suits your environment: the Colored (C) version, where the pigments enhance the details while still allowing the wood grain to show through; the Natural (N) version, which celebrates the pure and untreated essence of maple; or the Three Shades of Brown (3G) version, for a sober and sophisticated color effect.
