The Santa wooden sculpture is carved from maple and hand painted with oil paints by the artists of Val Gardena. The Santa Claus of the English tradition is carved with a jug of WASSAIL, a hot drink made of beer and cider with spices and roasted apples. In the English custom, some girls, called Wassail Girls, visited the houses and sang Christmas carols and gave their blessing.
