A maple wood statue dedicated to Saint Gregory of Nyssa, a 4th-century bishop and theologian and one of the Cappadocian Fathers. Brother of Saint Basil the Great, he is remembered for the depth of his thought and his contribution to Christian tradition.
Available in sizes from 15 to 200 cm and in three finishes: coloured, in three shades of brown, or natural wood. Sizes up to 40 cm are pantograph-worked and hand-finished; sizes from 60 cm upwards are hand-carved.
Who was Saint Gregory of Nyssa?
Gregory lived in 4th-century Cappadocia, served as Bishop of Nyssa, and became one of the great theologians of the early Church. Along with Basil the Great and Gregory Nazianzen, he is one of the Cappadocian Fathers. His liturgical feast is celebrated on January 10.
