Description

Immerse yourselves in spirituality and artisan craftsmanship with our sculpture of Saint Rita of Cascia, the Saint of impossible causes. This statue captures the Saint in a moment of deep meditation, with her head slightly tilted and her eyes cast down, expressing a celestial serenity and contemplation.

The skill of our sculptors from Val Gardena is evident in the meticulous rendering of the monastic habit. The black and white robes fall in natural folds that delicately catch and reflect the light. Her clasped hands, cupped together, hold a small crucifix, a symbol of her unwavering devotion. A detail of intense emotional charge is the small red mark on her forehead, reminiscent of the stigmata, the thorn received from the Crucifix as a sign of participation in the Passion.

The sculpture is handcrafted, following our centuries-old tradition. Sizes up to 56 cm are expertly carved from precious maple wood, known for its fineness and the ease with which it accommodates minute details. For sizes over 56 cm, we use robust linden wood. You have the option to choose from classic finishes such as colored wood (C), natural (N), the three shades of brown (3G), or the precious olive wood (U) version, for a unique piece of faith and beauty.

Detail & Meaning
1) Iconographic and symbolic elements: Angelic face, Crucifix in her arms.
2) Religious meaning: The "angelic face" evokes the purity and spiritual serenity of Saint Rita. The "Crucifix in her arms" symbolizes her deep devotion to Christ, her participation in the Passion, and her intercession for desperate cases, reflecting her life of suffering and faith.
Story
Saint Rita of Cascia, born Margherita Lotti (1381-1457), is one of the most beloved saints. Despite her desire to become a nun, she married Paolo Mancini, a difficult man, whom she converted with prayer and kindness. Widowed and having lost her two sons, she entered the Augustinian monastery of Cascia. Her life was dedicated to prayer and penance. Symbols of her veneration are roses, figs and poppies. She is invoked as the saint of impossible cases, a witness of faith, forgiveness and hope.
