Admire the majesty of the Statue of Saint Philip the Apostle, a masterpiece of wood carving that captures the Saint's strength and devotion. Every detail is crafted by our artisans from Val Gardena to breathe life into the wood, creating a work of profound spirituality and timeless beauty.
The figure stands in a dynamic and imposing pose, draped in richly flowing garments. The chromatic contrast between the dark green tunic and the burgundy cloak, bordered with shiny gold leaf finishes, enhances the regality of the representation. Attention is focused on the large natural wood cross, rough and opaque, a symbol of his martyrdom, which Saint Philip solemnly presents, while in his left hand he holds the scroll containing the Word of God.
This sculpture is the authentic expression of South Tyrolean craftsmanship handed down from generation to generation. It is made with selected woods: maple wood for sizes up to 56 cm, appreciated for its fineness and its ability to retain minute details, and linden wood for larger sizes (from 60 cm upwards), known for its stability and lightness in large works. Each piece is hand-painted and finished, enhancing the wood grain and the drama of light and shadow, making each statue unique.
