Description

This magnificent sculpture of Saint Paul the Apostle is a masterpiece of Dolfi craftsmanship, entirely handcrafted in Val Gardena. The figure is carved in a dynamic and inspired pose, with his gaze turned towards the sky he is depicted with a sword, a symbol of his martyrdom by beheading and of the "sword of the Spirit," which is the Word of God.

The vestments are treated with rich polychromy that enhances the plasticity of the wood: the reddish-brown tunic blends with the majestic cloak, embellished with dark green sections and a bright gold finish that catches the light, suggesting the skilled use of gold leaf. Every detail, from the thick curly beard to the bare feet on the rocky base, testifies to the expertise of our sculptors who imbue life and movement into the wood.

To ensure maximum fidelity and quality in every available size (from 15 cm to 200 cm), this sculpture is made of maple wood for sizes up to 56 cm and linden wood for larger sizes. It is also available in natural wood finish and three shades of brown.
