Saint Pio of Pietrelcina, born Francesco Forgione, is one of the most beloved and venerated saints of the 20th century. He founded the "Casa Sollievo della Sofferenza", a state-of-the-art hospital, a testament to his love for suffering humanity. He died in 1968 and was canonized by Pope John Paul II in 2002.
