This polychrome sculpture captures the essence of Saint Joseph the Worker, depicted in a pose of calm and deep contemplation. His serene face, framed by meticulously carved beard and hair, expresses the quietness and humility of the Patron Saint. The figure, slightly inclined forward, rests his right hand on his chest in a gesture of reverence and prayer, while his left hand holds the distinctive attribute: the carpenter's square.
The work is a triumph of artisan polychromy. The inner tunic, in a refined blue-gray with skillful shading, contrasts with the warm brown of the outer mantle. The true strength lies in the vibrant application of gold leaf or metallic gold paint on large sections of the drapery, which magnificently reflects the light, bestowing sacredness and splendor upon the piece.
Faithful to the tradition of Dolfi sacred craftsmanship, this statue is made entirely of precious maple wood, carefully selected for sizes of 12 cm, 15 cm and 20 cm. Each sculpture is the result of expert carving from Val Gardena, where the art of shaping wood has been handed down for generations, ensuring a very high level of detail and finish.
