A sculpture embodying devotion and wisdom, Saint John Climacus is a masterpiece of Val Gardena craftsmanship. The figure is depicted in an upright and contemplative pose, with his gaze directed slightly upwards, conveying a sense of profound spirituality and calm. The drapes of the long tunic are skillfully rendered with warm golden brown tones, while the short dark cape on his shoulders adds visual depth. The sculptors' mastery is evident in the precision of the details: from the long staff with its shimmering golden finial, a symbol of spiritual authority, to the book held close to his chest. Even ascetic symbols such as the small hanging gourd and the light wooden ladder are meticulously finished.
This "colored" (C) finish enhances the natural grain and texture of the sculpture with semi-transparent colors and satin finishes, typical of the Dolfi tradition. To ensure maximum fidelity, stability, and quality in every size, this statue is made of maple wood for sizes up to 56 cm. The larger variants, starting from 60 cm, are instead carved from precious linden wood, ideal for supporting the magnificence of larger dimensions.
