Saint John Climacus

I am pleased to present you our sculpture of St John Climacus, a work of sacred art masterfully created in our renowned workshops in Ortisei, Val Gardena. This sculpture is an excellent example of our sculptural tradition, combined with refined colouring techniques. Every detail of the statue is hand-painted by our experienced craftsmen, using high quality brushes and fine oil colours. This meticulous process ensures a finish of extraordinary beauty and durability. St John Climacus, whose name means 'of the ladder', is celebrated on 30 March in the liturgical calendar. He is considered one of the most important Fathers of the Eastern Church, who lived between about 575 and 650 AD. Salient aspects of the life of St John Climacus 1. He was a monk and abbot of the monastery on Mount Sinai. 2. He wrote 'The Ladder of Paradise', a fundamental work of Christian spirituality. 3. His text describes 30 steps of spiritual perfection, symbolising the soul's ascent towards God. 4. He is venerated as a saint by both the Catholic and Orthodox Churches. 5.
