The Story of Saint Joanna Maria de Maillé
Saint Joanna Maria de Maillé was born in 1331 in Maillé, France. Coming from a noble family, she married Baron Robert de Sillé. After her husband's death, she renounced all her possessions and lived in poverty, dedicating herself to the poor and needy near the Friars Minor convent in Tours.
As a Franciscan tertiary, she is remembered for her humility, compassion, and dedication to prayer. She died in 1414 and was canonized in 1871 by Pope Pius IX. Her feast day is celebrated on March 28.
This sculpture captures her devotion and altruistic spirit, making it perfect for churches, homes, and places of prayer.
