Description

Let yourself be enveloped by the spiritual sweetness of this St. Crescentia sculpture with dove, a masterpiece of sacred craftsmanship from Val Gardena, signed Dolfi. The saint is depicted in a pose of serene contemplation, with her gaze turned downwards in a gesture of humility and inner prayer.

Wrapped in a wide monastic cloak that falls in soft folds to her feet, the Saint delicately holds a dove — a symbol of the Holy Spirit, peace, and the purity of soul that characterized her life. Her other arm supports an open book, an emblem of her devotion to the Word and to contemplative life. Every fold of the drapery, every detail of the dove, and the collected expression of her face are the result of the centuries-old mastery of the sculptors of Val Gardena.

The finishes, available in Colored (C) version with vibrant polychromy and golden details, or in Three Shades of Brown (3G) for a natural and warm effect, enhance the three-dimensionality of the sculpture and make it suitable for any sacred or devotional environment.

Depending on the selected size, the work is made of maple wood for sizes up to 56 cm and linden wood for larger sizes, ensuring maximum stability and the artistic value typical of Dolfi creations in every format.

Story
Saint Crescentia, born Anna Höß in 1682, was a figure of extraordinary faith and resilience. Having entered the Franciscan convent of Kaufbeuren, she took the name Maria Crescentia. Despite initial difficulties and the bullying she suffered due to the lack of dowry, she always demonstrated unwavering inner strength. She worked in the kitchen and at the loom, and then became advisor and lover of the novices, always close to those in need. Her visions and insights led her to be suspected of witchcraft, but she overcame every trial with dignity. Elected superior in 1741, she shaped the convent with wisdom and love for the community. She died on April 5, 1744, after a long illness, and her tomb immediately became a pilgrimage destination. Beatified by Pope Leo XIII in 1900, Saint Crescentia is venerated for her humility, her charity and her unwavering faith, symbolized by the dove and the cross.
