The iconography is rendered with extraordinary emotional vitality: the giant Christopher advances with determination, his face marked by effort as he crosses the foaming waves, sculpted with realism in the base. His body is wrapped in rich drapery, accentuated by the contrast between the olive green tunic and the sumptuous brick-red cloak, embellished with abundant gold leaf applications that catch the light and add a touch of devotional luxury.
On his shoulders, the Child Jesus sits in a pose of supreme serenity. With a calm and composed expression, he holds the terrestrial globe, a symbol of his sovereignty over the world he is about to bless. This statue is a masterpiece of Dolfi craftsmanship from Val Gardena.
