Description

Immerse yourself in spirituality with our magnificent sculpture of Saint Anthony of Padua welcoming the Infant Jesus. This representation is a hymn to sweetness and devotion, capturing a moment of profound spiritual intimacy between the Saint and the figure of Christ.

The serene expression of the Saint, dressed in the traditional monastic habit, contrasts with the majesty of the Child who, with a gesture of blessing, holds the symbol of the Globus Cruciger (the globe with the cross). Every detail is meticulously cared for: from the rosary hanging with a small golden crucifix to the red book, symbol of doctrine, to the small bouquet of candid flowers.

The sculpture of Saint Anthony is entirely crafted by the skilled hands of master sculptors from Val Gardena. Sizes up to 56 cm are carved in precious maple wood, known for its fineness and perfect for more elaborate coloring, while larger sizes are worked in robust lime wood. The exclusive version in Italian olive wood is also available, in addition to the colored, natural, and three shades of brown finishes, capable of enhancing the sacredness and beauty of this work of sacred art.

Detail & Meaning
1) The product features the statuette of Saint Anthony of Padua. The iconographic and symbolic elements associated with the Saint, and therefore potentially present or recalled, are: the book (symbol of his doctrine and preaching), the lily (purity), the Child Jesus (vision or patronage of childhood), the heart and flame (divine love, ardor of faith).
2) The book represents his profound theological knowledge and his skill as a preacher. The lily symbolizes his purity and chastity. The presence of the Child Jesus recalls his mystical vision and his role as protector. Heart and flame express the ardor of his faith and love for God and neighbor.
Story
Saint Anthony of Padua, born Fernando Martins de Bulhões in Lisbon in 1195, is a venerated figure of the Catholic Church. Franciscan friar and Doctor of the Church, he is the patron saint of the poor and invoked for finding lost objects.

After entering the Franciscan order, he became seriously ill during a missionary journey and was forced to return, landing in Sicily. Despite his frail health, he became an appreciated preacher and teacher of theology in various Italian and French cities. He died in 1231, heading to Padua, where he is buried.

A famous follower of Saint Francis of Assisi and thaumaturge, he was declared a Doctor of the Church by Pope Pius XII in 1946. In iconography he is often depicted with a book, a lily, a flame or the Child Jesus. His sermons are collected in volumes.
