L'orologio a cucù, pur essendo nato storicamente nella regione della Foresta Nera in Germania nel XVII secolo, si è perfettamente integrato nell'artigianato alpino grazie alla sua struttura in legno intagliato che si sposa idealmente con l'architettura delle baite di montagna. La Val Gardena, con la sua ineguagliabile tradizione di scultura del legno avviata nel XVII secolo, ha elevato questo oggetto da semplice segnatempo a vera opera d'arte scultorea. I maestri artigiani locali hanno reinterpretato il design classico del cucù, arricchendolo con le tipiche scene di vita contadina e i dettagli architettonici che caratterizzano il paesaggio dolomitico, rendendo ogni orologio un pezzo unico di storia e cultura.
