In this work of extraordinary beauty, the skill of the artisans of Val Gardena manifests itself in the solemn figure of Saint Richard the Bishop. The sculpture captures a moment of deep contemplation, with its gaze directed upwards and a serene and majestic expression, illuminated by a thick, well-groomed beard.
The liturgical vestments are represented with surprisingly rich details: the sumptuous burgundy cloak, the golden stole, and the dark blue tunic create a regal visual contrast. The borders and ornaments are finely embellished with the skillful use of gold color, which enhances its luster and sacredness, reproducing the effect of gold leaf. The figure, in a dynamic and ascending pose, masterfully holds the golden crozier, a symbol of spiritual guidance, and an open book, an emblem of wisdom and the Word.
Every fold of the garment is carved with astounding precision, a result of the mastery handed down in our Dolfi workshop. This statue is available in different finishes—colored (C), natural (N), or three shades of brown (3G)—and is crafted according to our century-old tradition.
Depending on the chosen size, we use local precious woods: the sculpture is made of maple wood for sizes up to 56 cm, renowned for its carving fineness, and linden wood for larger dimensions, which guarantees stability and monumental magnificence. A devotional masterpiece that brings art and faith into any environment.
