L'arte di lavorare il legno in Val Gardena risale al XVII secolo, quando gli intagliatori locali iniziarono a creare figure sacre, presepi, ma anche oggetti decorativi e utilitari per integrare i magri redditi agricoli. La tradizione si è evoluta mantenendo l'eccellenza nella scultura e si è estesa al design d'interni, con Dolfi che perpetua l'uso di tecniche tramandate. Questa tipologia di cornice in mosaico di legno recupera l'antica maestria nell'assemblaggio, tipica dell'artigianato alpino, dove ogni scarto o elemento naturale del bosco veniva valorizzato e trasformato in pregio, unendo ingegno e rispetto per la materia prima.
