The Madonnina di Fatima, sculpted in fine mountain maple wood by the skilled hands of the Dolfi artisans of Val Gardena, evokes the powerful story of the Marian apparitions that took place in Fatima, Portugal, in 1917. Three young shepherds, Lucia, Giacinta and Francesco, witnessed six apparitions of the Virgin Mary between May and October. The Madonna, presenting herself as the "Lady of the Rosary", invited prayer, penance and conversion for peace in the world and the salvation of souls. Her requests culminated in the "Miracle of the Sun" on October 13, observed by thousands of people. Veneration for Our Lady of Fatima has grown exponentially, becoming a beacon of hope and a call to faith for millions of faithful around the world, who find in her a symbol of protection and divine intercession.
