The sculpture of the Stylized Madonna with Child is a sublime expression of modern sacred art, blending traditional devotion with contemporary and fluid lines. This representation captures a moment of profound intimacy and serene contemplation between Mary and her son.
The figures, elongated and elegant, are characterized by an expression of absolute peace; the Madonna's downcast eyes and the Child's tranquil face invite silent meditation. The artisan has skillfully highlighted the maternal bond through the protective pose and the delicate drapery, which on the left side comes alive in a cascade of dynamic folds.
The entire work is finished in a light and uniform shade of beige/ivory, enhancing the purity of its form and the natural texture of the wood, leaving the precious traces of the carving visible. This opaque finish is achieved through a light waxing or a transparent veil, which protects the material without covering its essence.
Faithful to our artisan tradition of Val Gardena, the materials are selected with the utmost care according to size. This sculpture is made of maple wood for sizes up to 56cm, and in the more massive and prized linden wood for all larger sizes, in each case guaranteeing the highest quality manual craftsmanship.
