Description
This magnificent 52 cm Cuckoo Clock is a celebration of alpine craftsmanship and mechanical precision. Inspired by traditional mountain chalets, the clock is entirely handcrafted and finely carved, capturing the joy and toil of rural life.

In line with the sculptural tradition of Val Gardena, this piece, given its size of 52 cm, is carved from precious maple wood, known for its compactness and ability to render the most minute details. The structure, from the roof tiles to the root-carved base, is finished with skillful shades of brown that enhance the natural grain of the wood.

Observe the richness of the scene: in the foreground, two couples in traditional attire dance on the balcony, while the central dial tells time with clear Roman numerals. At the base, daily life unfolds between a water wheel, a lumberjack busy cutting wood, and two figures resting on a bench. Details such as the fence and small wooden fir trees complete this idyllic picture. The pinecone-shaped weights and the decorative pendulum, elegantly suspended, ensure the functionality and authenticity of this masterpiece.

Detail & Meaning
The chalet-style cuckoo clock is not just a timekeeper, but a guardian of alpine memory. Every detail, from the dancing figures to the lumberjack's work, symbolizes the harmony between man and nature and the celebration of community. The "chalet" represents refuge, warmth, and family tradition, fundamental values of South Tyrol. The rhythmic sound of the cuckoo and the pendulum's movement recall the importance of the cycle of life, constant work (the lumberjack, the waterwheel) and moments of joy (the dance), offering a daily reminder of the beauty of tradition.
Story
Although the cuckoo clock is historically linked to Germany's Black Forest (18th century), artisans in Val Gardena have adopted and perfected this art form, infusing it with the aesthetics and typical subjects of the Dolomites. Gardena craftsmanship, renowned for its wood carving, has elevated the cuckoo clock from a mere functional object to a true animated sculpture, enriching it with the precision of carving and the vividness of alpine painting, keeping a centuries-old tradition alive.
