La capanna o stalla, nel contesto del presepe, non è un semplice fondale, ma il fulcro simbolico della Natività. Story
La tradizione del presepe, o rappresentazione della Natività, risale al XIII secolo ed è storicamente attribuita a San Francesco d'Assisi, che realizzò la prima ricostruzione vivente a Greccio nel 1223. Questa usanza si è rapidamente evoluta in una forma d'arte statica e scultorea. In Val Gardena, l'intaglio del legno è fiorito come arte sacra dal XVII secolo. Le capanne come il modello Malsiner, con la loro rappresentazione fedele e rustica dell'architettura alpina e rurale, sono l'espressione più pura di questa devozione, testimoniando la continuità della maestria artigianale che onora il luogo sacro della nascita di Cristo.
