This Dolfi sculpture celebrates the Nativity with striking aesthetics, combining stylized modernity and an authentic alpine spirit. The Nativity scene is framed in a hut-like structure that plays on material contrast: the minimalist figures and internal layers are made of smooth wood, polished to enhance its warm natural grain.

In stark contrast, the outer edges and roof feature a rough, irregular texture, thanks to the skillful application of real tree bark. This combination creates a unique piece of craftsmanship that captures the essence of nature. The interior scene features three essential figures – Mary and Joseph seated in adoration and the Infant Jesus in the center – sculpted with pure lines and without facial details, inviting universal contemplation. At the top, a five-pointed star carved in layers seals the sacredness of the work.

Entirely handmade in Val Gardena, this precious 16 cm piece is carved from fine Maple Wood, chosen by our master carvers for its fineness and ability to retain precise detail.

Its origin is attributed to Saint Francis of Assisi, who in 1223 in Greccio set up the first living representation of the Nativity. This gesture was intended to make the mystery of the Incarnation more tangible and understandable, allowing the faithful to "see with their eyes" the poverty and humility of the Savior's birth. Since then, the Nativity scene has become a widespread tradition throughout the world, evolving into different artistic and cultural forms, but always maintaining its profound meaning of announcing the coming of Christ and inviting contemplation of the divine mystery. Its veneration is manifested in domestic and public settings, in prayer and in reflection on the message of peace and hope that the Nativity brings with it.
