<p>La capanna nel presepe non è un semplice sfondo, ma il fulcro simbolico dell’intera rappresentazione. Essa incarna l'umiltà e la povertà in cui Gesù Bambino scelse di nascere, un rifugio provvisorio che accoglie il divino nel mondo terreno. Strutturalmente, la capanna rustica, con i suoi materiali naturali e grezzi, rimanda alla fragilità della condizione umana e, al contempo, alla solidità della creazione. Questo diorama, con l'albero e gli elementi naturali, sottolinea l'unione tra l'uomo (rappresentato dalla capanna) e la natura circostante, celebrando la Natività come evento cosmico che coinvolge tutta la creazione.</p>

<p>La tradizione del presepe ha radici profonde che risalgono a San Francesco d'Assisi, che nel 1223 a Greccio allestì la prima rappresentazione della Natività. Da allora, l'arte di ricreare la scena si è diffusa in tutta Europa. In Val Gardena, l'intaglio del legno sacro divenne un mestiere fiorente a partire dal XVII secolo. Le famiglie di scultori artigiani perfezionarono l'arte di creare non solo le figure, ma anche le ambientazioni, trasformando la capanna da semplice contenitore in un'opera d'arte a sé stante. L'utilizzo del legno locale, come il tiglio, è una scelta che rispetta la tradizione iconografica e garantisce durata e autenticità alle scenografie, rendendo ogni pezzo un piccolo tesoro tramandabile.</p>
