The Val Gardena Lamb is a masterpiece of wood carving that captures the serene innocence of the evangelical figure. Every detail is crafted to evoke softness and authenticity, making it an essential piece to complete the Nativity scene.
Observing it, one immediately perceives the elaborate texture of the wool. The artisan has managed to reproduce the irregularity and softness of the fleece through a matte and grainy cream-colored finish, which contrasts with the smooth surface and delicate reddish-pink hues of the muzzle.
The upright posture and calm gaze, defined by an essential almond-shaped black stroke, give the figurine a quiet and reassuring presence. The hooves are distinctly colored in an earthy brown to ground the figure in its pastoral simplicity.
The creation of this sculpture follows the centuries-old Dolfi artisanal tradition. The figurines, available in various finishes ranging from natural wood (N) to elegant coloring (C) or the three shades of brown (3G), are masterfully carved. For smaller sizes (up to 18 cm), the Lamb is made from precious maple wood, known for its fine grain and resistance to processing. For the large 56 cm size, the work is made of linden wood, ideal for ensuring stability and definition in monumental pieces.
