The Dolfi Stylized Nativity is a work that merges the ancient sculptural tradition of Val Gardena with a profoundly modern and minimalist aesthetic. This abstract sculpture, known for its elegance and clean forms, encapsulates the essence of the Mystery in an iconic design.
The entire scene is framed by an Arch of Light, made with a bronzed/copper metallic finish, polished and reflective, symbolizing refuge and divine protection. At its apex, the golden Comet Star, treated with refined gold leaf or gold paint, guides the eye and introduces a touch of vibrant luminosity and sophistication.
The three central figures – Joseph, Mary, and the Child – are highly simplified, faceless, allowing the observer to project their own pure devotion. The garments, made with ochre, cream, and blue-gray shades, are embellished with thin golden lines that define their contours, adding a detail of unrivaled artisan refinement. The small lantern held by Saint Joseph is a powerful symbolic element, representing the light that pierces the darkness and illuminates the path.
This Modern Holy Family is entirely hand-carved in Maple Wood, the material preferred by Gardena artisans for sculptures of contained dimensions (up to 56 cm). Available in natural finish (N) to enhance the wood grain, or colored (C) to emphasize the warm and sophisticated palette.
