The body and the majestic antlers of the Moose play on a unique visual duality: the outer contours are covered with natural tree bark, rough and dark, which gives a wild and authentic look. In contrast, the heart of the figure is smooth and reveals the clear and subtle beauty of the wood, with delicate grain and a matte, smooth finish to the touch.

The only chromatic touch is given by the soft bright red fabric scarf, gracefully tied around the neck, which adds a decorative and festive element, creating a vibrant contrast with the neutral tones of the mountain.

This 14 cm sculpture is entirely hand-carved by our master carvers in Val Gardena. Due to its small size, it is made of precious maple wood, known for its compactness and ability to enhance the finest details of the workmanship. A piece of alpine design that combines tradition and modernity.

L'Alce, o Renna, è un simbolo potente associato alle regioni nordiche e alpine, incarnando la forza silenziosa, la resistenza e la connessione con gli spiriti della foresta. Artisticamente, la sua rappresentazione stilizzata in questa scultura evoca un senso di design minimalista e naturale. L'uso del contrasto tra corteccia ruvida e legno levigato non è casuale: simboleggia l'unione tra la rudezza della vita selvatica (la corteccia) e la purezza dell'anima (il legno interno), un dualismo che riflette la filosofia del vivere in montagna. La sciarpa rossa aggiunge un tocco di calore umano e domestico, mitigando l'aspetto selvatico della figura e rendendola un perfetto emblema delle festività invernali e dell'ospitalità montana.

L'intaglio del legno in Val Gardena è una tradizione secolare nata nel XVII secolo, inizialmente legata alla produzione di figure sacre. Con il tempo, i maestri scultori hanno ampliato il repertorio includendo soggetti legati alla fauna alpina e al folklore locale, come l'Alce. Questi soggetti non sono solo decorativi, ma raccontano la storia di una comunità che vive in simbiosi con la montagna. La scelta di utilizzare la corteccia come elemento di finitura è un omaggio recente e innovativo a questa storia, recuperando materiali grezzi per creare opere d'arte che esaltano la sostenibilità e la profonda conoscenza dei materiali lignei tipica dell'artigianato gardenese.
