Description

This authentic Black Forest cuckoo clock combines traditional craftsmanship and high-quality mechanics. The cuckoo, entirely made of wood and hand-painted, faithfully reproduces the original bird and sings once every half hour and on the hour, bringing the timeless charm of traditional German clocks into your home.

Certified by the Black Forest Clock Association (VdS), this model features a REGULA movement produced by SBS-Feintechnik of Schonach, known for its extraordinary durability. The hands can be adjusted both forward and backward without risk to the movement, while the 8-day mechanism only requires winding once a week by pulling the chains to lift the weights.

The dial, hands, and cuckoo are made of wood, while the manual night shut-off allows the clock to be silenced when necessary. The warm brown color and handcrafted finish make this cuckoo clock an elegant and traditional piece of furniture, ideal for collectors and lovers of mechanical clocks.

Detail & Meaning
The cuckoo clock (Kuckucksuhr) is an icon of Alpine craftsmanship, symbolizing the deep connection with nature and the measurement of time in harmony with seasonal cycles. The figure of the cuckoo, with its song emerging at regular intervals, represents the call of the forest and the cyclicity of life. Artistically, the sculpture enhances the theme of Waldeslust (the joy of the forest): the abundant decorations of leaves and pinecones are not simple ornaments, but elements that anchor the object to its natural environment, transforming a simple instrument into a domestic altar dedicated to the rhythm and beauty of the Alpine world.
Story
The history of the cuckoo clock is rooted in the German Black Forest in the mid-18th century. Born from the need to find alternatives to the complex and expensive mechanics of bell clocks, the cuckoo mechanism quickly spread due to its simplicity and popular appeal. The evolution of the design saw the introduction of rich wood carvings, often made by local master craftsmen. This style, known as "Traditional" or "Chalet," was then adopted and reinterpreted throughout the Alpine regions, including Val Gardena, where the art of wood carving was already developed. Dolfi perpetuates this legacy, combining German clockmaking precision with the incomparable carving mastery of Val Gardena.
