<p>L'orologio a cucù (Kuckucksuhr) è un'icona dell'artigianato europeo, con radici che affondano nel XVII secolo. La sua massima espressione e popolarità fu raggiunta nella regione della Foresta Nera, in Germania, a partire dalla metà del 1700. Inizialmente, questi orologi erano semplici scatole di legno con meccanismi musicali. Fu nel XIX secolo che furono sviluppati i modelli riccamente decorati, come quelli a "Casa del Ferroviere" (Bahnhäusle-Uhr) e successivamente quelli con scene di vita alpina e di caccia, che sono oggi i più diffusi. L'abilità nell'intaglio del legno, fondamentale per la realizzazione di questi pezzi complessi e animati, stabilisce un legame naturale con la tradizione scultorea della Val Gardena, creando un ponte tra due eccellenze montane dell'artigianato di precisione.</p>
