This tabletop Crucifix is an eloquent testimony to the sculptural skill of Val Gardena, combining profound spirituality and masterful craftsmanship. The refined and serene figure of Jesus Christ is sculpted with anatomical precision that highlights the details of suffering (such as the prominent ribs and crown of thorns) but with a final expression of resigned peace.
The sculpture of the Body of Christ stands out for its light ivory (natural) finish, which gives a sense of purity and luminosity. This color creates a strong and evocative contrast with the cross and the multi-layered base, finished in a warm dark brown that highlights its natural grain.
Each piece is meticulously crafted and, given the wide range of available sizes, we apply the wisdom of wood: the sculpture is carved in precious maple wood for all sizes up to 56 cm. For the more imposing variants, from 60 cm upwards, linden wood is used, which is more suitable for large works. The polygonal base ensures stability and gives solemnity to the entire work, making it a focal point for prayer and contemplation.
