Around the contrasting dial (black with white Roman numerals), an abundant oak-themed decoration unfolds, with leaves and branches carved with millimeter precision. Observe the life that comes alive at the sides: a vigilant rabbit and a wise owl, flanked by hunting accessories such as the curved horn and the game bag. The cuckoo clock (Kuckucksuhr in German) is an icon of German watchmaking, born and developed primarily in the Black Forest region (Schwarzwald) from the mid-18th century. Although the idea of a clock with a mechanical bird was already known in Europe before, it was here that woodcarvers and clockmakers joined forces to create the distinctive design we know today.
